But to help companies move beyond the traditional compliance standards, Ethisphere recently hosted the first of a three-part webcast series titled, The Department of Know: Processes and Practices of Leading Compliance Programs – And How to Move Your Own Company Forward. Through an exclusive first-look at the 2016 World’s Most Ethical Companies dataset companies had the opportunity to get a first-hand look at the benefits of measurement and evaluation through benchmarking. The webcast featured Ethisphere’s Douglas Allen, Managing Director, Data Services; and Erica Salmon Byrne, EVP and Executive Director of Business Ethics Leadership Alliance.
According to the data provided, one emerging trend suggests that authority and reach remain a hallmark of leading compliance and ethics programs. “The larger the program, the more time an employee will spend managing it,” said Byrne. “At the end of the day, you need to ask yourself, does my program have significant authority? And do people pay attention when I talk? If the answer to that question is no, then you have some work to do from a structural perspective.”
